The course offers step-by-step guidance from the start and is suitable for those seeking to enter the industry for the first time, or for existing spa business owners and managers looking to branch out or improve their knowledge and skills.

By the end of the Spa and Wellness Development course, students will understand the spa industry, different spa concepts, spa design, treatment types and products. They will be equipped with the knowledge to prepare a spa business plan, and will be able to understand spa ethics and etiquettes.
Course Topics
This professional Spa and Wellness Development course covers the origins and development of the spa industry, the different types of spa establishments and the governing bodies and associations. The course guides participants in developing their own spa concepts, offering practical information to tailor it to the business’ needs and recourses. Our expert instructors will teach students how to develop spa business plans with an emphasis on marketing (including the “6 P’s” and their relation to the spa industry), management plans (including organization charts, staffing, recruiting and initial training), and financial planning (including a review of set-up costs and profit and loss projections, and an introduction to the ISPA Uniform System of Financial Account for Spas). The course also touches upon spa treatments and products, with guidance on creating spa menus and selecting product ranges. Moreover, the course will cover spa design, including layout requirements, general considerations and room-specific considerations, designer briefings, and inventory requirements (including products, equipment, furnishing, fabric items and other supplies). Finally, the course will cover spa ethics and etiquette, to ensure participants’ businesses will run by international spa standards.
Examinations
The Academy will conduct individual or group assignment towards the end of the course.
Certification
After successfully completing the course and examinations, participants will receive a CSIA Certificate of Student Attendance in Spa and Wellness Development.

Wanna joined Chiva-Som’s spa reception team in 1995, gaining operational knowledge and practical spa therapist training. She earned qualifications in Spa Management and Therapist Training at Chiva-Som Academy in Bangkok in 2004 and cross-trained at The Sanctuary Day spa in London in 2006.

Pilailuk Thongtan (Bebee) is one of 50 Spa Therapists/Trainers certified by the Thai Spa Association. With over 20 years of experience, she specializes in spa management, health club operations, wellness coaching, and spa concept development in Australia and India.
